2025 Dotfusion Annual Retreat

October 2-3 - Dotfusion HQ - Toronto Ontario

Every October, we pause our project sprints to recharge, learn from one another and set the course for the year ahead. This year’s two‑day retreat will take place on October 2 and 3. As a certified B‑Corp digital agency we’ve spent 25+ years helping organizations accelerate digital transformation through human‑centred design and cutting‑edge technology. Our retreat reflects that purpose: blending inspiration, skill‑sharing and community.

Day 1 Morning: Welcome & Purpose
We’ll gather over breakfast, share opening remarks and revisit our B‑Corp mission. Leadership will recap major wins – from headless CMS launches and eCommerce platforms to custom mobile apps– and recognize teams that exemplified our values of strategy, creativity and engineering. An overview of the two‑day schedule will highlight how each working session supports our human‑centred, future‑ready vision.

Working Sessions

1. Human‑Centred Design & UX Research (Day 1, AM)
Our first session dives into the principles that make our work stand out: thoughtful user experience and “pixel perfection.” Designers and researchers will lead a hands‑on workshop exploring empathy mapping, inclusive design and accessibility. We’ll conduct mini usability tests on recent prototypes and discuss how requirements gathering, system architecture and UX/UI design research inform every project. The goal: refine our toolkits so every interface we craft is both beautiful and intuitive.

2. Headless CMS & Content Innovation (Day 1, PM)
After lunch, developers and strategists will host a session on scalable headless CMS and eCommerce architectures – platforms that underpin our clients’ success. We’ll review case studies to show how content modeling, API design and modular component libraries enable future‑ready websites. Breakouts will address content migration, localization and the agility needed to support marketing teams. By day’s end we’ll have a shared roadmap for our next generation of headless solutions.

3. Mobile & AI Solutions Lab (Day 2, AM)
Our second day begins with a mobile and AI lab. Teams from Android, iOS and web will showcase recent advances in iOS and Android app development, exploring cross‑platform frameworks, progressive web apps and low‑latency architectures. A lightning round on AI examines how machine learning, personalization and chat interfaces can enhance our clients’ products. Participants will ideate prototypes that merge mobile interfaces with AI‑powered recommendations, demonstrating how we can deliver smarter experiences while safeguarding user data.

4. Architecture, Engineering & Quality (Day 2, midday)
This working session focuses on the engineering craft behind our digital products. We’ll explore front/back‑end development practices, systems integration and DevOps pipelines.Topics include performance optimization, analytics, security and quality assurance. Engineers will share lessons learned from recent platform launches, and cross‑functional teams will sketch architectures for upcoming projects. The session aims to strengthen our collaboration between design, engineering and QA so every build is robust and scalable.

5. Impact, Community & B‑Corp Values (Day 2, PM)
In the afternoon we’ll step back from screens to reflect on why we do this work. As a Certified B Corporation, Dotfusion believes business should be a force for good. This session invites everyone to share ideas for social impact initiatives, volunteer projects and the expansion of Dotfusion Academy. We’ll examine how our profits and skills can support people and communities, and set commitments for the coming year. The retreat closes with a celebration of our culture—music, food, and the bicycles and plants that make our studio feel like home.

Throughout the retreat, there will be opportunities for team‑building, reflection and fun. Join us on October 2–3 as we learn, connect and build the future together.

Thoughtful, creative & precise, and we’ll never let you down

Two decades and counting.

For the past 25 years we have been building beautiful digital things (Websites, Apps, IOT) on all kinds of platforms in an equitable environment, verdant with plants, musical instruments and a few bicycles. We typically juggle several digital projects at once, some for enterprise clients like Intuit Canada or Brookfield Properties and others for NGO's or our friend's salon down the hall.
On any given day you find us fussing over pixel perfection or an enterprise platform integration. Exploring contemporary methods of leveraging JavaScript to present common content across viewports while debating the merits of fish tacos vs huraideu-chikin as the best option for team lunch, that's our scene.
