Technical Project Manager

Hybrid (Toronto, ON)Remote (Eastern Time hours)Full-Time

About Us

Dotfusion has been pioneering enterprise platform modernization since 1999, transforming legacy systems like Adobe Experience Manager, Sitecore, and WordPress into cutting-edge headless and composable architectures.

We specialize in commercial real estate, manufacturing, large non-profits, financial services, and travel and hospitality. We deliver full-service digital transformations combining strategy, UX design, engineering, content migration, and agentic AI workflows.

As one of the few Certified B Corporations in the digital transformation space, we use business as a force for good. We partner with CMS providers like Agility CMS, Contentful, and Storyblok to build AI-ready composable platforms. Our portfolio includes large-scale projects and long-term partnerships with organizations like Oxford Properties, Brookfield, and Mitsubishi.

Role Description

As a Technical Project Manager, you will own the day-to-day execution and leadership of your assigned projects, keeping scope, budget, and timeline on track and keeping communication flowing between clients and the delivery team, so work ships exactly as committed in the SOW.

You are the client's primary point of contact and the account's early-warning system. You think strategically about how each delivery decision lands for both the client and the business, including where risk is building and where there's room to grow the account. You keep clients informed and unsurprised, you catch dissatisfaction while it's still recoverable, and you field routine technical questions yourself, leaning on our Senior Architect only for genuine depth. You keep the delivery team briefed, unblocked, and moving across time zones.

Roughly three quarters of this role is hands-on project delivery. The remaining quarter is up-front discovery and business analysis: facilitating client stakeholder groups to surface business requirements and shaping them into the functional, buildable scope a project runs on.

This is a full-time role, open to candidates anywhere. Toronto-based candidates can work hybrid; everyone else works fully remote. Because this role sits at the center of every project, you'll work Eastern Time business hours regardless of where you're based.

What You'll Do

Delivery Ownership

You will keep your projects on time, on budget, and on scope to SOW, running daily coordination (standups, unblocking, sequencing) with developers and contractors. You'll coordinate delivery across time zones with clear owners, decision-makers, and risk flaggers on every project, keeping the team briefed, unblocked, and moving.

Discovery & Business Analysis

You will lead up-front discovery on new and evolving projects: facilitating workshops and working sessions with client business stakeholders to surface goals, pain points, and business requirements. You'll draft the discovery documentation, business and functional requirements, process flows, and user stories, and partner with the Architect to turn business needs into a clear, buildable scope. You facilitate different stakeholder groups, and you move fluently between business and technical language, meeting each audience where they are.

Client Relationship & Risk Judgment

You will lead client status calls and proactive updates so clients are never blindsided, and run a regular pulse check across your active accounts, acting on any dip before it becomes an escalation. You'll filter day-to-day noise and escalate upward only what is a real reputational, financial, or client risk. When you raise something, you bring a proposed solution with it.

Scope & Change Control

You will hold scope firmly. You catch client-driven creep early and turn it into documented change orders, and you stop the delivery team from doing work outside the SOW without a change order in place. Nothing gets absorbed silently on either side.

Delivery Reporting, SOPs & Automation

Delivery visibility is a mandate. You'll report weekly on progress, budget and burn, and risks, with what you're doing about each, so leadership always has a clear and current read. You'll help establish and write the SOPs for strong delivery: how projects are run, measured, and reported across the agency. This work sits at the center of our AI mandate. The goal is to get you off manual tracking. You'll propose and build the automation tools, and where they fit the AI agents, that take over the manual reporting and tracking, from status assembly and change-order drafts to pulse surveys and pre-call briefs, so your time goes to judgment, clients, and the team.

Qualifications

Delivery Expertise

You bring 8+ years of agency or relevant delivery experience running digital projects (web, e-commerce, apps) day to day. You're fluent in both waterfall and agile, and you hold firm scope, budget, and timeline discipline. You bring your own proven frameworks for running large, complex enterprise projects: how you structure delivery, govern scope and risk, and set cadence and reporting. You can explain why your approach works and adapt it to a boutique shop. You are technically fluent enough to field routine client technical questions and to know exactly when to escalate to the Architect.

Discovery & Business Analysis

You can run up-front discovery: facilitating stakeholder workshops, drawing business requirements out of client teams, and drafting the documentation that turns them into functional, buildable scope. You're comfortable in the room with business stakeholders, not only technical ones, and you weave in and out of technical and non-technical language depending on who you're talking to.

Leadership & Communication

You communicate with clients proactively and keep them unsurprised. You treat a dip in client sentiment as a signal to act, not a number to log. You do what you say and own outcomes without deflecting, and you're both direct and kind.

Strong Assets

A PMP designation, familiarity with headless and composable CMS (Storyblok, Contentful, Agility), and an instinct for spotting account-growth signals are all valuable. Experience standing up delivery processes and reporting, or building workflow automation with AI tools, is a strong asset.

Experience over credentials

Hands-on agency delivery experience is weighted over any degree.
