We designed and built the Boys Town digital ecosystem on Agility CMS, which provided the necessary flexibility to power a complex multi-site architecture while maintaining a unified design system across all properties. The platform enables seamless navigation between the main organization site, specialized service portals like Boys Town Hospital and mental health resources, and 8 regional microsites, ensuring families can easily find the specific help they need regardless of which portal they enter. This approach allows each digital property to maintain its unique content and purpose while sharing a consistent brand experience and navigation framework.
Strategy
Our strategy focused on solving the critical UX challenge of creating a cohesive navigation experience across 15+ digital properties. We developed a unified design system that could scale across the main organization site, 6 specialized service portals, and 8 regional microsites while maintaining clear wayfinding for users. The navigation architecture needed to communicate where users are within the broader Boys Town ecosystem while providing intuitive pathways to other relevant services, whether that's connecting hospital visitors to mental health resources or guiding regional site visitors to specialized programs. By implementing Agility CMS as the foundation, we ensured the entire ecosystem could share components, maintain brand consistency, and allow the Boys Town team to manage content efficiently across all properties. This combination of strategic information architecture and scalable technology created a digital ecosystem that serves families comprehensively while reducing operational complexity.
Design
The design transformation significantly enhances how families navigate the complex Boys Town ecosystem. With a unified design system and intelligent navigation architecture, users can seamlessly move between the main organization site, specialized service portals, and regional locations without losing context or experiencing brand inconsistency. The intuitive cross-portal navigation ensures that a parent researching parenting resources can easily discover Boys Town Hospital services, or a family on a regional microsite can connect with national mental health programs. By creating a cohesive visual language and shared component library across all 15+ properties, these design updates ensure every family receives a consistent, professional experience regardless of which Boys Town service they need, while dramatically simplifying content management and future scalability for the organization.
